- What does your wardrobe look like? Is it comprised of bright colors and prints? If so, you may want to choose a more neutral sling to balance the look. If your wardrobe is comprised of plain and solid colors don’t be afraid to get yourself a sling that says, “I’m here and so is my baby!”
- Who will be using the sling? Most moms wear the slings, but I have witnessed several dads who enjoy carrying baby in the sling. Dads need to bond too! If baby’s dad plans on wearing the sling, consider what he would wear. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a grey, black, denim, and yes, camouflage sling.
- Had your heart set on bunnies or peace signs? Sorry to say that prints do not work because we see both sides of the fabrics at all times. A printed fabric will have one “good” side and the other is a whitish version of the good side and is not that pleasant to the eye – like wearing a blouse inside out. If you view the fabric gallery, you will see some printed fabrics. These are not printed but dyed fabrics; they look exactly the same on both sides. So what fabrics work the best? Dyed, woven, and solid colors - plenty of options to choose from.
- Did you find something in the fabric gallery that you absolutely adore? Because I am a small business, I am at the mercy of what’s in stock at the local fabric store. Therefore, the fabric of your dreams may or may not be in stock. The best way to ensure that you get a fabric that you like is to be as specific as possible about your preferences. Solid, stripes, or a dyed print? Bright or subtle? Hate pink? Let me know and I will ensure that there will be no pink in your fabric.
- What’s your size? The sling that I make is a standardlength that fits almost all sizes. It is 2m (80 inches) long from the rings to the end of the sling. The “tail” created once your baby is in the sling makes for a great vanity cover if you breastfeed, or it can be used to cover your baby’s head if you are in the sun. If you are a particularly small or large person, please let me know and I can custom make you a shorter or longer sling.
